Merry Christmas Morning!

Just a small taste of Christmas morning at the darrington's crib! I wish Scotty was in this video so you could see how excited he was about his new ride, the cozy coupe! Christmas was a big hit this year and we even got some really neat presents as well! Let's hear it for CHRISTMAS!

Disneylander Inside Jokes

Here are some t-shirts made by a former cast member at Disneyland. The artwork isn't all that great and a few of the shirts are duds (if you asked me). However, I do like the Matterhorn, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Submarine, Inner Space (my favorite ride as a kid! Magnification!) and Tiki Room shirts.

Enjoy.

And Enjoy.

So, I ask you: What is your favorite little thing about Disneyland?

I'd say that mine is the Mint Julep Bar near the New Orleans Square train station. Great fritters and delicious Mint Juleps!

Daniel the Grand Prize Winner!!

For physics class Daniel had to create a vehicle that was 'mouse trap' powered. (Yes, those are vinyl records for wheels.) One of the rules in order to receive an "A" for the project was that it had to be able to go at least two meters. Daniels went about 12 meters and traveled more that 2 1/2 times farther than anyone elses. Daniel has received many calls from race car builders.

These are a few of MY favorite things!

This is a 27' Ford put together by the throttlers car club out of Salt lake.Notice the beautiful rust.

Check out the patina. It's a '37. A restored woody would go for $70 grand, I prefer to see the way it looks after 70 years. I know this is a random post and don't expect many comments. But I wanted to share what I'm into.

Remy was a bird dog...

This must be distinctly understood, or nothing wonderful can come from the pictures I'm about to relate.

Upon returning from church, this was what we came home to:

My apologies to pigeon enthusiasts everywhere. Apparently Remy knows her calling.

Billy's ALS (Airman Leadership School) Graduation

Elara "bear cub" Belanger

Her are some recent pictures of Elara.

recent quotes...
Matt:"Elara say sorry for Hitting me in the nose"
Elara:"No, sorry is what you say when you step on someones toes at the movie theater"

Elara:"Don't call me sweetheart, my name is Bear cub"

When I was eleven or twelve sister Workman read Heath and I "Love You Forever". You know the one..I love you forever, I love you for always , as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. Anyhow, she started crying as she was reading it. I thought that was silly. Well the other day I read it to Elara. I'm' not saying I cried but, had I not stopped I would have. Elara looked at me like I was crazy.
I know .I know. I love to write sappy posts about my baby. But she is so much fun and such a good little friend.

Hal Ketcham concert

So this is my first post with a picture. This picture was taken on my phone so it's not that great.
I went to see Hal ketcham last nite! I haven't listened to country in a while so I couldn't remember what he sang. He sings "small town Saturday night" and "past the point of rescue"
He is a cool guy. I got to hang out back stage. This girl gave me $25 bucks to get his autograph for her, when she saw I was back there. It was a fun nite. These groupies from Salt lake invited me to go to rush afterwards, and Hal was there.
Tonite I'm going to see a Johnny cash tribute band from out of San Diego. I saw them before and they are good. Then of course Bar -J Wranglers on Friday. I really wish I could get tickets to NFR.

Our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

Inspired by Dad and Ruth's very nice White Christmas tree, our kids have been pestering us for weeks to buy a white tree. We found this little number at the local Wal-Mart for $37, so we bought it for the kids to decorate. It's not much to look at, but hopefully the kids, once grown, will remember the year they decorated their own little Christmas tree.

Here is the "other" tree, a little more staid and reserved than it's more showy (and snowy) companion.

Asher's Big Day

Here is Asher before heading to the church for his baptism.
At the church.
A family picture at home after the big event.

Asher was baptized on December 1. It was a really special event. Hannah gave a talk in the chapel before the baptism. Then everyone went down to the font, where Asher was baptized. After being confirmed, we went to the house and had a celebration! Later that night, after everyone left, Asher came to me with his scriptures and asked if we could read together. What a guy!

Remember this?

Leah's post reminded me of the time that I saw this:

Remember that?

Just kidding. But since we're all Disney-philes here, here's a cool site that I thought that you'd all get a kick out of. Cheers!

Belangers

While posting one day I had clicked on my spell check button(cause you never know) and it had highlighted the word BELANGER'S as if had been misspelled. I was curious what the options were to replace BELANGER with and these were the choices: 1. Bel Anger's

2. Banger's

3. Clanger's

4. Blinker's

5. Blanker

I thought that was so funny that those were the alternate choices of our "misspelled" name!!! I know sometimes we ARE banger's, clanker's, blinker's, AND blankers! (Wait, what was I saying?! Oh yeah, sorry... I just totally blanked!) Any how, pretty funny, right?

The Ghosts of Hannah and Alejandro

We went to the festival of lights at the Springs Preserve tonight. We took some fun (and eerie) shots of the lights and ate a quick bite at the Cafe before heading home.

Lady and the tramp!!

Flying High!!
Who knew Hannah could do the splits and that Danny can squat.
Danny doing a flip. (I never could catch him upside down.)

View them and weep!

For those of you who were unable to come with us on our little excursion to Cedar Breaks today, you missed spectacular views, balmy 15 degree weather, and great root beer. (Oh, and snow too.)

Things I'm thankful for.

Yesterday we had our family scripture study in the midst of preparing our feast and though the chapter was not an extraordinary one, I really had an overwhelming feeling of blessedness. We read Pahoran's reply to Moroni calling him out for not supporting the troops and it reminded me of Marky and Liz and Billy and Dave and all the other people who "sign up" for the love of home, and country and liberty. I was also feeling especially grateful for the Puritans seeking the freedom to worship God. They gave up every comfort, everything familiar and trusted God to protect them and support them. As I cooked my turkey in my gas oven and whipped the sweet potatoes in my KitchenAid while my roll dough was being mixed in my bread maker, I realized we had few fears, few needs unmet and luxuries that 400 years ago were unimaginable. I was also feeling grateful for my mom and her kitchen that I have been borrowing this week. I couldn't have prepared two turkeys and everything else without her. I was grateful to be able to share our comforts with friends who were likewise removed from faraway family and give my husband the thing he misses most on a holiday- a crowd. I was grateful for my kids who helped whenever they were asked, even if they weren't asked "nicely" and are so welcoming to friends in our home. I was grateful when everyone left and I could go to sleep while my husband cleaned up. What a guy! I'm grateful for all of you and hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving wherever you were and whoever you were with.

Food for Thought

So....I was the biggest brat when it came to nursing my baby and whined and complained for quite a while, but now I have gone back to work and because of such am not producing enough for my baby....In fact he has lost an entire pound and I was told by his pediatrician that I would have to supplement. Although those days of dissatisfying nursing are long behind me and I have really come to enjoy it......I am extremely sad that I am not providing for my Buddy in a way only a mother can. Any thoughts? I know this is sort of more focused towards female interest but I would love any and ALL words of encouragement!

Let's talk TURKEY!!!

Due to the overwhelming response to my last post....

Final preparations are under way for our big family feast. Dustin and I did our grocery shopping on Saturday and Tom Turkey is in the refrigerator thawing as we speak! We really do need to get an idea of what everyone would like to bring so that if we have to go back to the store we'll know what we need! We still need beverages, rolls, and nut cup treats. Matt I believe you said you'd bring cranberry sauce, a couple of cans will do or if you have a special recipe that will be great also!

We are planning on eating at noon and then dessert at 2:00, that way if you'd like to go to your in-laws or you've made other plans you'll be able to do both. If you'd like to take home any left-overs than B.Y.O.T (bring your own Tupperware) Thank you for supporting me in the first annual Belanger's Are Odd Thanksgiving Celebration I'm THANKFUL for all of you and I can't wait to share this special meal together!
