Food for Thought

So....I was the biggest brat when it came to nursing my baby and whined and complained for quite a while, but now I have gone back to work and because of such am not producing enough for my baby....In fact he has lost an entire pound and I was told by his pediatrician that I would have to supplement. Although those days of dissatisfying nursing are long behind me and I have really come to enjoy it......I am extremely sad that I am not providing for my Buddy in a way only a mother can. Any thoughts? I know this is sort of more focused towards female interest but I would love any and ALL words of encouragement!

Lizzie- You are doing a great job of managing babies and work--many of us didn't have to do that! Hold Billy when you give him the bottle, than you'll get the feeling of closeness. Who is taking care of him?

There is a tea you can get called Mother's Milk that will help your production and I think there's another herb, too. If you go to a natural foods store like Whole Foods you should be able to find it or find someone who can recommend an alternative. Don't give up yet! Supplementing doesn't mean it's over! Try to get as much rest as you can and drink plenty of water!! Love you!

This is all great advice. Another idea is to relax and know you are a great mom and like Erin said it is not over.

The herb is Fenugreek(?) and you should be able to find it in pill(capsule) or tea form. My girlfriend said she was able to nurse her third baby far longer than her first 2 thanks to this herb. Good luck. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll look here and bring it to you next week.
