Did I miss the Friday night fight?

That's what my parents called their weekly airing of grievances when they were newlyweds. I don't think it was planned, just a natural consequence of two young people working a lot and newly married. Joey usually gets on the computer Friday night and I get Saturday morning, assuming we're home. Lately my mind is on freezer meals. That's right freezer meals. I've started another freezer meal club like the one I was a part of in Vegas (or what Joey likes to call, the "good old days"). I started with 4 ladies and one of them completely dropped the ball. we kept putting off the exchange for her, and I offered to help her put them together, and she still managed to fail us. We all went home with an extra one of our own, which is fine, but a little annoying. Another girl just realized that we'd be doing this every month. She thought it was a one time deal! Weird! Anyway, I guess that's not all that's on my mind. Ethan is becoming a master in the fine art of blowing off whatever his parents' instructions are and it's driving me crazy! We give him absolutely clear instructions, with no sarcasm, and he still does whatever he wants. Usually, it's during Princess Club or when Joey was subbing for seminary and all the kids were at our house for class. I guess he knows we can't have a fit at him when other people are around and he doesn't seem to care about the future of his privileges. I don't know what to make of him lately. We have been pretty consistent with making good on our threats, but it's like he doesn't believe we'll REALLY make him go to bed early or we'll REALLY buy everyone else a Frosty but him. Something's not getting across. Also, I'm thinking about our trip to Florida. Our first real family vacation! It only took 9&1/2 years, but we're really doing it! I can't wait to see Liz, Billy and the baby, and then it's off to Disney World. The travel channel had an hour just about the parks and we sat there and drooled and dreamed and planned and plotted for the whole hour. The kids are ecstatic. You know how Joey is, he's keeping a running countdown and occasionally asks the kids, "Who's excited for Disney World?" and they all scream at the top of their lungs. It's a happy noise, I don't mind the happy noises. Well, I better go. Gotta take tonight's dinner out of the freezer!

So it doesn't get easier, it just gets different? There are ages though, you know like 2 or 3, 5, 8, etc. They are just testing their limits and growing up. I'm not taking it as personally as I used to, so I'm growing up, too. Someone has to be the adult, right? And as for the clean guest bed, we will definitely be taking you up on that offer-you have 47 days and counting!
