At the birthday party today, Asher received the same gift from from two guests, so we went to the store this evening to return one of the items. Asher looked at books, video games, toys and other things before he decided what to buy with his gift card. To my great surprise, he chose to buy a pair of shorts, new pajamas, and socks. He told me that he needed new pjs and that he is always running out of socks (he raids his brother's dresser). I didn't realize how fast Asher was really growing up until tonight. He's turning into a pretty practical guy (when we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said a watch and a wallet).
Asher a week ago - proof that he needed new pjs (and a shave).

At the party yesterday I saw Asher reading (for a few minutes) one of the magic tree house books and was very impressed with a boy who would take a few minutes during a very fun party and want to read. You are right he is getting older.
P.S. I love a handsome man in uniform.
Happy Birthday to Asher!!
It seem like only yesterday that Markie was flying Asher around on Grandma's Nimbus 3000. Elara didn't recognize Asher with a beard. she said, oddly,"who is that girl".
Happy birthday, Asher. I'm glad you like those books, too. Ethan devoured the first series this summer. Are you still nervous about your baptism? You'll be fine. I hope we'll see you again soon!
Asher is really so cute I loved the time we got to spend together over the summer he was such a big help. When he opened up his scout shirt I almost got a bit teary. I can't believe he's already old enough to go. When girls turn 8 they get to go to activity days which is so much fun but I thought how fun for Asher to become a cub scout, and from what I hear you and Leah too. ha ha
