A little night rambling

It's Friday night and I'm the one on the computer. I didn't want to take Joey away from watching "Resident Evil". It's been on our DVR for a month and I always worry that Ethan will get up real early in the morning and start watching it by himself. It's finally starting to feel like fall around here. The evenings are cool, we've had some wicked fog when it was more humid, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky today-perfect candy making weather had it been a little cooler. I love this time of year. The summer heat starts to subside, the fall flowers start to blossom, the migrating butterflies return as well as the hordes of grackles or crows reminiscent of "The Birds"( my kids, Bronwyn included, do the cutest imitation of the love birds riding in the car from that movie). People come out of their houses again and greet their neighbors for the first time in months. Summer is a hibernating time here. The plants, animals and humans all hunker down and manage the heat stress as best they can. Fall is like Spring all over again with things coming alive, but now the expectations are for all the homey, warm memories that the holidays promise. We're going to be on our own again this year, a change from last year when my family descended in droves. I'm looking forward to fondue and fudge and all the things I couldn't eat last year. I'll probably gain 30 pounds to add to the 10 I've gained since Bronwyn's birthday. Oh well. I'll diet when I'm dead. Speaking of diets, Rhiannon has a fit every time she sees her dad with a soda. "Do you want to get fat!?!" she screams. She watches too much "Biggest Loser" or something. Here are some pics from an outdoor restaurant called Flip Happy. They only serve stuffed crepes, savory and sweet, from a trailer in a vacant lot near downtown Austin. It is very "Austin" which is another word for "weird". I love this town.

Maybe I'll get Flip Happy when I get there. It sounds like an exercise.

We will definitely have Flip Happy, Rudy's, Amy's and maybe some Freebirds.

I miss me some Rudy's barbecue and Amy's ice cream - especially the Mexican vanilla.

I meant description, it's late, ok

My favorite fall flavor at Amy's in Pumpkin Pie with Ginger Snaps crush'ns.

My favorite summertime flavor is Key Lime with (once again) Ginger Snap crush'ns.

Other than those times or if those flavors are not available; Mexican Vanilla. Hands down.

Well....Don't worry Billy is always very vocal about soda's negative effects to me as well

The only dark soda my kids get is root beer, and usually it's got chocolate in it from Sonic! They don't get it very often so we go all out when they do.
