My favorite night on TV, Thursday. Why you ask? Well, that would be because I get to watch my favorite show in the whole world...the Office! Thank you for opening my eyes ,Andy, to this hilarious show. Never before have I loved a show as much as I love the office. I know everyone keeps telling me about all of the great dramas that are on t.v. but I LOVE ME SOME GREAT COMEDY!!! I practically laugh out loud the entire time.
Andy let me borrow his season two DVD's which I guess I hadn't seen much of although I had already seen some of the episodes. The first episode I ever saw was when Jan came and they had a girl's day so all the guys went down to the warehouse. I loved it but i guess I saw mostly season three. Dustin and I had never seen the season finale from season two when Jim confesses his love for Pam. OH MY GOSH!!!! We were both on the edge of our seats. We had no idea! I mean no idea! I knew that Jim had transferred to the other branch and there were references made that he got denied by Pam in the past but I had no idea!! I can't wait until tonight I'm lovin' this new season so far. I really love Dwight but Andy has some great moments also. I love it! So all of you dry sense of humor- lovin' Belangers out there who are planning on watching tonight...ENJOY!!! I know I will.

I thought it was funny when we were over at Markies and were watching it together. I think the episode was called 'The Fight".
How could you not know that Tim had the hots big time for Dawn? I mean Jim and Pam...
Well I knew that totally but I had never seen that he said I love you or kissed her.WOWsers!
Joey, Are you a purist? I love David Brent and Gareth Keenan, but the American version is more laugh out loud funny.
I'm in SLC this week, so I just finished watching this week's episode. It was a little John Henry, if you know what I mean.
I was gonna watch it...but Billy had a football game. Then we went to dinner and when I looked up at the TV I saw it was on as was so bummed..oh well I'll DVR it next week.
I have to wait one more hour:(
I had watched the original when it first came out on DVD and had a couple of years to let that version simmer and fall in love with the characters.
Then when the remake came out, I was disappointed that they were rehashing old episodes, so I stopped watching.
Now that the show has taken on a life of its own, I love it! Favorite character? Creed, of course. He's such a weirdo.
The Original:
Pros
-tight, concise storyline
-very British
-more realistic(?)
-more punch (higher highs/lower lows)
-referential humor
-David Brent and Keith
cons
-a bit raunchy
-don't get some British references
The Remake
Pros
-wild and zany
-cleaner
-accessible references
-Toby and Creed
-More branched out storyline; bigger
Cons
-Michael Scott and Kevin
-once an episode they go for the easy joke (low hanging fruit)
I recommend any UK Office fans to skip the first season and a bit of the second in order to give The American Office its due.
I started with the American version, then the BBC. My experience is totally different. It took me a long time to get used to the decidely slower pace of the BBC version, but you're right about how its understated nature delivers a greater emotional punch.Tim and Dawn aren't much to look at, but their romance really works.
